The Business Administration programme is a three (3) year degree programme with the goal of producing capable, employable graduates. The programme content is dynamic, evolving as business issues change to ensure that graduates have the skills and awareness to succeed in the changing business world. The programme aims to develop a solid understanding of business and management, whilst building the key intellectual and vocational skills that will enable you to succeed in any business environment.
The majority of students choose the degree title of BA (Hons) Business Administration, but on the programme you will be able to specialise in chosen areas of business, e.g. Marketing, Information Management, or Human Resource Management, and have this included in your degree title.
Year 1
The emphasis in Year 1 is on producing the basic framework for the programme and it has a broad range of topics. The first year covers economics, accounting, information systems, law, HRM, marketing, business decision modelling as well as developing the skills needed for success in academic study.
Year 2
Year 2 has compulsory topics in the global business environment, strategic management and leadership. At this stage you choose options to shape your own course of study and give the possibility of taking a pathway in the final year.
Year 3 (Final Year)
The final year covers modules in strategy and further personal and professional development work as well as examining contemporary issues in business from climate change to terrorism and globalisation, outsourcing and virtualisation of corporate organisations. The pathways available are finance and accounting, human resource management, marketing management, corporate strategy and planning, business information system management and project management.
By the end of the programme you will be an independent learner with the skills, knowledge and experience to make informed decisions about your future career.

Assessment
Students will face a variety of assessments including course work, essays, reports, presentations, and group work and end-of-module examinations.
Learning Environment
Students must attend minimum fifteen hours of lectures, seminars and tutorials per week. Personal study also forms an integral part of the course.
Entry Requirements
To enrol on this programme the student must be over 18 with:
- A level equivalent
- 5.0 to 6.0 IELTS if not studied in English
- Work Experience Route: Extensive professional experience in the field and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in the sector may be considered and accepted in lieu of formal education
- All candidates with Edexcel Level 5 BTEC Diploma in Management and Leadership qualification can join the 3rd year (Final Year) of the programme.
All the modules/subjects are delivered with a mixture of the following:

Assessments of the modules/subjects are conducted with a combination of different methods including:

The selection of the specialist units have been carefully chosen with a deliberate and concise focus on management strategy. This is to enable students to have an insight into how core organisational systems contribute to managerial effectiveness to enable the realization of strategic objectives.
Award and Certification
The students will be awarded their degree by UCLan after successfully completing the BA (Hons) in Business Administration programme.

| With a qualification in business there are a wide range of career paths and opportunities available to you. Possible roles include management consultant, systems analyst, management accountant, marketing executive, human resource officer and various managerial positions. |
Successful candidates can also enrol on the Edexcel Level 7 BTEC Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership at LSME which comprises of 120 credits.
To achieve the whole qualification, a learner must successfully complete 3 core/ mandatory units (25 credits) and approved specialist units totalling 95 credits.
A successful candidate can then top up at an EDEXCEL affiliated UK University to achieve an additional 60 credits to be awarded with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). |
A direct entry to any Masters programme at a UK University is another option available to the candidate after successful completion of the BA (Hons) in Business Administration. |
