Edexcel BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) & Higher National Diploma (HND)
These programmes are designed for learners over 18 who do not have standard entry qualifications for direct entry into University programmes in Health & Social Care.
The Higher Nationals in Health and Social Care originate from a vocational setting and have been designed to enable progression from a vocational route as well as from academic study.
The qualifications provide a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector. BTEC Higher Nationals offer a strong emphasis on practical skills development alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding in the sector.
Learners are attracted to these strong vocational programmes of study that meet individual progression needs whether this is into employment or to further study on a degree or professional course.
Entry Requirements
To enrol on this programme the student must be over 18 with:
- Either 2 years work experience in Health & Social Care sector with A level equivalent qualification or Diploma in Nursing or BSc Honours in Nursing.
- Candidates must have adequate proof of proficiency in English language
- Work Experience Route: Extensive professional experience in the field and/or achievement of a range of professional qualifications in the sector may be considered and accepted in lieu of formal education.

The selection of the specialist units have been carefully chosen with a deliberate and concise focus on health and social care management strategy. This is to enable students/candidates to have an insight into how core organisational systems contribute to health care managerial systems.
Progression (Top-Up) At A University
On successful completion of the HND students will be eligible for entry into related final year TOP-Up Bachelor degrees at many higher education institutions and Universities in the UK.

Moderation & Quality Process
In order to make the assessment as fair as possible, a system of moderation has been put in place. LSME undertakes stringent assessment activities and internal moderation, whilst the EDEXCEL undertakes an external moderation exercise periodically. The final results are then presented to the LSME Academic Board for formal approval.

NCFE Programmes (Level 3 & 4) in Health & Social Care
Health and Social Care Level 3
A nationally recognised and flexible qualification from NCFE that enables candidates to have a qualification that relates directly to their supervisory caring role within a specific health or care setting. The course will enhance their personal growth and development and so undertake their role with greater confidence. On completion the candidate may gain admission to various other occupations in care and be a valued member of a care team.
Criteria
Applicants should already be working as a senior healthcare worker or have satisfactory lengths of experience in care where, in their current employment, there are opportunities for acting as a team co-ordinator. International students may be accepted if they can prove good occupational experience and a level of education equivalent to 6 UK GCSEs or a qualification equivalent to a vocational level 2 UK programme (please contact us or our partners for advice if necessary). Naturally good English is also important.

Health and Social Care Level 4
A nationally recognised and flexible qualification from NCFE that enables candidates to have a qualification that relates directly to their management or senior care management role within a specific health or care setting.
There are good opportunities for acting as a care team leader or even care manager on placement in paid work.
The course will enhance their supervisory and care management skills and personal/ professional development so prepare them for the senior roles within acre settings and lead to complementary professions such as nursing or social work. On completion the candidate may gain admission to various other occupations in care and be a valued member of a care team.
Criteria
Applicants should already be working as a supervisory healthcare worker or care manger and have a level 3 qualification in health and Social Care (or equivalent).
Internationals students may be accepted if they can prove good occupational experience and a level of professional training equivalent to or surpassing level 3.
