THE NEW WORLD OF TEACHING AND TRAINING
Since September 2007, all new teachers/ trainers/tutors/assessors who teach in the lifelong learning sector will be required by law to obtain the Threshold Associate Teaching Licence. This is an exciting breakthrough in learning vision that is set to transform standards across the very wide sector in the UK, from secondary schools up to Higher Education and including training in the workplace: a convergence
of teaching and modern training.
- If you are currently working or are seeking a career as a teacher, tutor, trainer, lecturer or instructor within the lifelong learning sector;

- You are an overseas trained teacher that seeks adaptation to the very latest, modern principles of teaching in Europe?
This is a major development for LSME and is closely linked to the training offered in management development. The two important and broad disciplines of management and training to some extent converge to enable “cross-fertilisation” of vision, approach, methodology, resources and intellectual capital. It is therefore the aim of LSME to be leaders in both areas, linking experience and ideas across the globe to contribute to education and economic achievements in different parts of the world.
There are many opportunities in the following specialist areas in Lifelong Learning:
- Further and Higher Education (a diversity of specialisms)
- Adult & Community Learning – including Literacy and Numeracy
- Personal and Community Development and Learning Training and Work-Based Learning such as management education
- Teaching Science, Mathematics, English or other specialist areas where there are shortages of teachers
Then this is an ideal opportunity to qualify and work in one of the specialist areas in Lifelong
Learning such as further or higher education, work-based learning or adult and community learning.
With the introduction of the new UK government Professional Standards for Teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector, a range of qualifications have been introduced to meet Government requirements and LSME are delivering all of these.
